I needed shielded cable due to the location of my installation. This is durable, heavy duty Cat 6 cable (because of the distance). Mine runs from my router, 60 feet through an unfinished basement, through an interstice space, behind a plumbing wall and through a chase where other wires run to a connection with my BlueRay player. Signal is strong (same as signal strength at the router).

Well I needed a real long cable to connect from my wireless router (DIR-655) into another router (WRT54GS) running DD-WRT which I would use as a wireless access point/switch. I wanted this cable because CAT6 has less signal lose over length and has a heavier duty gauge wire which is great when running it through about 6 walls like I did. Everything is hooked up, and I'm loving having highspeed internet (AT&T U-Verse) across the whole house (wired and wireless). I believe the Linksys router is only cat5 though, and unless all network devices are gigabit devices, the cable still runs at cat5 speeds. Just wanted the quality of the cat6 cable.
