I wanted to use my Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speaker/sub set with the TV. Though they are just "computer speakers", they are real "budget" audio gems. But back to the real product star. Unfortunately, the TV doesn't provide backward-compatible audio outputs. No RCA or 3.5mm stereo out jacks, only HDMI and digital audio outputs. So how do I connect an analog speaker set via a 3.5mm stereo plug? A whole lot of searching turned up zero answers for this very basic need. I stumbled across this on Amazon and decided to try it, as there were very few other options, ridiculously priced and/or poorly made. That's when I ran into trouble: the only audio out was coaxial digital and the speakers and subwoofer were from my computer and were analog with a 3.5mm plug. However, after using it for a couple months I can say that it works fine and I've had no issues with it. It appears to adequately decode Dolby Surround sound into six analog channels and the audio output sounds fine. Though I would recommend purchasing your own Toslink cable, as the included "High Quality Optical Fiber Cable" is hardly "high quality." |
