Christie "DonC" (Las Vegas) - See all my reviews This review is from: Yamaha RX-V565BL 630 Watt 7-Channel Home Theater Receiver (Electronics) There are two model numbers for this AV Receiver as disclosed on CNET. One model number is the RX-V565BL, the other is the HTR-6250BL, which I purchased. At various times, the prices of the two vary on Amazon, so I just went with the cheaper one. I coupled the receiver with the Energy Take Classic 5.1 and was able to get two satellites on Ebay to complete a 7.1 speaker system. To round out the system I have the Mitsubishi DLP 73". I also have the PS3, xbox360 and Wii hooked up.Unlike another reviewer who had a problem with his Tivo Series 3 with RX-V565 version of the receiver, I had no problem at all. If you have a problem with the HDMI, just use the Tivo component out and digital optical out direct into the Yamaha. It works perfectly. The biggest problem I had in hook up was my inability to connect the Wii directly through the Yamaha. I use the component video cable for the Wii. This Wii cable has two rca connectors for audio. There are two... Read more 9 of 10 people found the following review helpful ![]() By This review is from: Yamaha RX-V565BL 630 Watt 7-Channel Home Theater Receiver (Electronics) Sorry, Jaffe. I just don't agree with your assessment and can't help but think that there must be other issues associated with your setup. I did not find this to be a mediocre device at all.I was in the market for a current HDMI compatible A/V receiver. Like another reviewer before me, I too had an older Sony that ran hot and was built before the transition to true high definition audio and video. I am not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination and am generally happy and satisfied with very good, high quality stereo systems. I have the DirecTV HD Package, a Sony 46 inch 60Hz LCD 1080p television and a set of JBL Northridge 5.1 surround-sound speakers that my son got me a few years ago for father's day - bless you, Nick. It's not a state of the art system, but it both looks and sounds great. I just needed a new receiver. I looked at several "best sellers" here at Amazon.com and read through the specifications and reviews carefully. I... The Dolby Digital signal drops from the tivo, and the receiver tries to re-autodetect it every time you change channel. The end result is a digital "Chirp" that plays over the speakers and is REALLY annoying. I have tried swapping the unit out for a new one, changing wires, changing wall plugs to eliminate ground issues, tried with my other Tivo that i own, etc. Its is a known issue on tivo community forums (search for digital cough) that plagued a lot of older models of Yamahas. Aparently this new model has the same issue. i called Yamaha, and they claim to have never heard of the issue. They suggested the unit was faulty and I exchange it. Replacement model did the same thing. I am now looking for a new brand and a new receiver. Very sad... Read more |
